Food FOR Thought TIP:
So few ingredients, so quick & so easy. Grab 2x the ingredients and bring one to your nearest fire or police station, a teacher, a single friend, a single Mom, a new Mom, a pastor, an elderly neighbor or even a new neighbor.
Maybe you have a new neighbor you haven’t met yet. Kick it old school flava and knock on their door with a pie and a smile. It doesn’t matter how new, it is never too late for this idea!
I know, I know..I’m nervous doing this because, for one, I hope the people don’t feel obligated to ask us in and face it, first interactions can be scary! Just knock, introduce yourself, simply say “welcome to the neighborhood” and tell them which house or apt or condo you’re in.
Let them know that you are there if they have any questions about the area and with body language indicate you are heading back home and there is no need to feel awkward. You never know when such a small step can brighten someone’s otherwise dreary or stressful day. You never know when that small act can be the beginning of a meaningful connection that changes someone’s life forever..maybe even yours.
Never underestimate the impact a single, small act of kindness can make and realize that cultivating this habit will set an example for your kids to see how easy, and yet fulfilling, it can be to give and watch them begin to practice this themselves as they grow.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
